Overview

The Cadillac Lyriq SUV is a glimpse into the luxury brand’s electric future. It competes with vehicles like the Tesla Model X and Audi E-Tron, as well as the upcoming Genesis GV60. With innovations that combine the Lyriq 2023 with today’s Cadillac aesthetic, Smith and his team have ditched the fun electric SUV design and given electric vehicles a package more reminiscent of a traditional combustion engine vehicle.

The Cadillac Lyriq 2023 is the automaker’s first all-electric offering that competes with the highest-end electric SUV models on the market. General Motors targets the Cadillac brand to launch its first luxury electric vehicle, the electric SUV LyriQ and the electric sedan Celestiq.

That means Cadillac’s planned advancements in electric vehicle technology across its entire product range won’t stop with the Lyriq. Indeed, by the end of the decade, every Cadillac family vehicle will be electric.

Design

The Lyriq is an SUV with a sharp design, modern cabin design, ground clearance, a new scalable battery architecture from General Motors, a low center of gravity from Cadillacs, and a spacious cabin that benefits from the special EV architecture.

Apart from the traditional grille, the Lyriq emphasizes a black crystal shield that forms depth and detail along with three-dimensional texturing. Driven by this presence, the car achieves a dramatic sculptural effect with standard 20 or 22-inch wheels paired with flat tires that blend in with the sheet metal structure and details. The vehicle seats five people and is 1,967 inches long, two inches shorter than the three-row crossover Cadillac XT6.

The unique LED headlights are made up of nine lamps stacked vertically. The top three lamps power the high beams. Vertical bars for daylight running lights flank the light stacks. This is mirrored in the back near the rear bumper’s ends. The taillights grow in size as they Morse code from the center to the edge higher up, where the angled rear windshield ends. The horizontal line takes a sharp turn as it wraps around the body and scales the D-pillar to the band of chrome splitting the roof from the windows.

Performance

Cadillac claims that the Lyriq will have a capacity of 100 kWh and a range of over 300 miles on a single charge. It will be the first all-electric vehicle with a new battery technology called Ultrium.

Cadillac is mum on details of Lyriq’s All-Wheel Drive, so we don’t know how much horsepower it will produce but the rear-wheel-drive model is supposed to produce 340 horsepower. Cadillac predicts a range of at least 300 miles, and the car will run on a pedal, with paddles on the steering wheel that allow the driver to adjust the speed and braking level.

It also features state-of-the-art two-level head-up displays, an updated Super Cruise driver assistance system, lane-changing on-demand functions, and remote parking systems.

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq (2023) is equipped as standard with the semi-autonomous driving assist Super Cruise, new offroad noise reduction technology, and maximum relaxation behind the wheel. Price

For $59,990 (including destination), at launch, a single-engine, rear-wheel-drive model will be available that costs $10,000 less than its luxury competitor, but the Lyriq has more range than comparable luxury models. In terms of range efficiency, the best engineers have developed a sleeper that maximizes aerodynamics and gives you up to 300 miles of range.

Conclusion

The Cadillac Lyriq SUV 2023 illuminates the all-electric future of the luxury brand. It competes with other such vehicles such as the Tesla Model X, Audi E-Tron, and the upcoming Genesis GV60. The sleek and refined Cadillac Lyriq is Cadillacs “first electric vehicle, and we can’t wait to see what the year ahead holds for us.

Drivers around the world are turning to electric vehicles to reduce our carbon footprint, and Cadillac is here to play its part. Note that Cadillac is expected to order the Lyriq 2023 model by next summer and it will be the next batch of SUVs to reach customers next summer or early autumn.
