Car manufacturers go dormant for decades under new ownership before being resurrected, like Praga, a Czech firm that dates back to the height of the country’s strong industrialization in the late 19th century. As the new millennium began, Praga Bohema became one of many pioneering automakers.

Motor by the Nissan GT-R?

The 6-cylinder unit is based on the Nissan GT-R and is reported to produce 700 horsepower, and the top speed is estimated to be over 300 kilometers per hour. There is also plenty of eye candy, thanks to the bent and crimped bodywork (created in-house) that manages to look both avian and extraterrestrial simultaneously.

The Praga group designed and styled the Bohema on their own, utilizing CFD (computational fluid dynamics) modeling and then fine-tuning it in an F1 team’s wind tunnel. All surfaces were designed by a team of engineers and designers to look exciting and exquisite without sacrificing their contribution to the vehicle’s aerodynamic efficiency and performance. This is pure form and function working in tandem at their best. It has advanced aerodynamics, including a specially designed rear spoiler, that generates over 1,984 pounds of downforce at 155 miles per hour.

Praga has only ever designed and produced all-carbon race cars in the modern era, taking advantage of the expertise in carbon fiber manufacturing in the Czech Republic and Slovakia used by many of Europe’s leading luxury car makers. The resulting chassis is extraordinarily robust and torsionally stiff.

Praga Bohema’s Engine & Powertrain

The PL38DETT in the Praga Bohemia is derived from Nissan’s legendary 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine seen in all GT-R vehicles from 2007. It is built on an aluminum alloy cylinder block, and it features double overhead camshafts for each cylinder bank and a continuously variable valve timing system for the inlet valves, both of which were adapted from Nissan’s experience at Le Mans. This engine’s appeal lies not just in its raw performance capability but also in its legendary dependability and scope for customization.

Only Nissan can provide Praga with new GT-R engines for the Bohema. Praga also collaborates with Litchfield Engineering, a prominent British company that has been a friend of the Praga brand for quite some time, on engine development and maintenance. Litchfield is widely recognized as the world’s foremost expert in tuning GT-R engines because of his extensive background spanning almost two decades in the subject. The new engines are converted to dry sump by Litchfield, which shortens the unit by 5.51 inches. Because of this, the engine may be placed lower in the Bohema, decreasing oil surge dangers when cornering at high speeds.

The carbon fiber monocoque was developed for racing, so the cockpit is tight, but it has been smartly built to accommodate two very tall adults in a race position. The doors extend outward to provide access over the bodywork into the cockpit, and there are steps in the footwells for the driver and passenger to use to descend into their seats. In addition, the wheel can be removed to make getting in and out of the vehicle easier.

The pedal box, seat, and steering column may all be adjusted for a personalized driving experience.
