Introduction

Toyota bZ4X is the first fully-electric car Toyota company has ever made. The “bZ” stands for “beyond Zero” and by this, the company is revealing its path towards carbon neutrality. Toyota had previously stated that it aims to electrify 40% of new car sales by 2025 and nearly 70% by 2035. The all-new bZ4X EV platform was developed in partnership with Subaru Corporation, with the goal of equipping the electric SUV with off-road performance characteristics as well.

Design

It has narrow headlights and a smooth bumper surrounded by a few air ducts and intakes up front, with a side profile that looks a lot like the contemporary Toyota Rav4. We can spec up to 20-inch alloy wheels.

The inside of the Toyota bZ4X is rather minimalistic, as is the case with other EV SUVs. A 7-inch digital driver’s display is placed immediately in front of your eyes, with a large centralized touchscreen in the center and a double-stacked row of touch-sensitive buttons nicely beneath.

Battery

The EV is built on Toyota’s unique e-TNGA battery-electric vehicle platform and is powered by a 71.4kWh battery pack that lies beneath the car’s floor. The battery’s location also improves chassis durability and interior space while decreasing the vehicle’s center of gravity. The bZ4X’s DC fast charging capabilities are limited to 150 kW, allowing it to charge 80 percent in 30 minutes, according to Toyota. When connected to a compatible wall socket, owners who want to charge the EV at home can use its 11 kW AC charger to achieve a complete charge.

Performance

The company also stated that its electric SUV will have a cruising range of 500 kilometers for front-wheel-drive models and 460 kilometers for all-wheel-drive models. A single 150 kW motor will power the former, producing 201bhp and 265Nm of peak torque. The latter, on the other hand, has an 80 kW motor on each axle that produces 215bhp and 336Nm of torque.
